The right repair is the one you can't see.

Jenner and Son works on listed buildings, churches and historic structures — lime plastering, traditional joinery and heritage masonry, carried out to match the fabric that's already there, and documented properly from tender to completion.

What we do

Six items of trade, from diagnosis through to formal tender documentation.
01
Lime plastering & render
Internal and external lime work in breathable, moisture-permeable finishes, matched to the original specification and applied by hand.
02
Traditional joinery
Hand-made sash windows, doors and structural timber repair, using traditional jointing methods rather than wholesale replacement.
03
Heritage masonry
Stone and brick repair, indent and consolidation, with mortar mixes matched to the original for colour, strength and permeability.
04
Damp investigation & rectification
Diagnosis of moisture movement in historic fabric, followed by a remedial specification and the works to carry it out.
05
Tender & contract documentation
Formal tender returns and quotations under JCT Minor Works and Intermediate contracts, prepared to the standard architects expect.
06
Conservation consultancy
Condition surveys, method statements and advice for architects, parochial church councils and private owners of listed buildings.

How a project runs

The same sequence, whether it's a church roof or a garden wall.
STAGE 01

Survey & assessment

We look at what's actually there before we propose anything — fabric, cause, and condition, not just the symptom you called about.

STAGE 02

Specification & consent

A written specification you can take to a conservation officer, DAC or architect, sized correctly for listed building consent or faculty.

STAGE 03

Craft & execution

Work carried out by tradespeople who do this as a discipline — lime, timber and stone, not general building dressed up as conservation.

STAGE 04

Record & completion

A record of what was done and why, so the next person to touch the building — in ten years or a hundred — knows what they're looking at.

"Conservation isn't a style. It's a set of decisions about what to keep, made in favour of the building rather than the schedule."
